These programs cover some of the essential elements of local governance in Wisconsin: budgets, alcohol beverage licensing, and running a meeting.

  • Alcohol Beverage Regulation and Licensing Wed., May 25, 2017, 9:30 am – 12:00 noon. Wisconsin municipalities are required to appropriately review and issue alcohol licenses according to state law. Prepare for your municipality’s review and issuing of licenses by learning the statutory requirements for alcoholic beverage licenses, municipal licensing actions, recent court decisions and any legislative changes. Presented by Atty. Carol Nawrocki, Wisconsin Towns Association, Atty. Claire Silverman, League of Wisconsin Municipalities, and Tom Ourada, Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue.
  • Developing Your Annual Budget Wed., June 7, 2017, 10:30 am – 12:00 noon. Join this program to learn the requirements of Wisconsin Statutes 60, 61, and 65 and procedures that local governments are subject to in developing their annual budget. Gain not only a good understanding of the policies and rules that apply but also the “how and why” of local government budgets. Presented by Yunji Kim, Local Government Budget and Finance Specialist, UW-Extension’s Local Government Center
  • Parliamentary Procedure Basics Tues., July 25, 2017 10:30 am – 12:00 noon. This program will provide a basic comprehension of the rules local government officials traditionally use in the conduct of meetings. Procedural issues such as what can be done in the absence of a quorum, how a decision can be reconsidered, and common misconceptions will be addressed. Presented by Larry Larmer, Outreach Specialist and Professor Emeritus, UW-Extension’s Local Government Center.
