Getting Involved with COVID-19 Data Science Input

The Data Science Institute has begun collecting and modeling data to track COVID-19 infection spread, both nationally and locally, collaborating with researchers across UW-Madison, at UWM, U Chicago, UW Health, and with local government and public health officials. The data scientists involved are ready to run models for Dane County, Madison, and the hospitals but are having a hard time getting inputs and are looking for suggestions on where daily updates could be obtained in a more real-time basis.

To be involved, you can join the communications channels that have been set up:

Slack, for most communication and resource sharing: afidsi.slack.com (join via this invite link and then enter the Slack workspace URL – afidsi.slack.com)

Daily Webex meetings at noon: go to uwmadison.webex.com, enter the meeting ID 624 646 572 to join the meeting
There’s also an email list for more general/broad communication and a Google Drive to keep track of resources, models, and visualizations. Email Clare Michaud (cmichaud@wisc.edu) to join those.
