Bill Rizzo joins Local Government Center

Local Government Specialist, Bill Rizzo, is the newest addition to the Local Government Center. Prior to joining the Center this June, Bill spent over 16 years as a Dane County Community Resource Development Educator serving local governments with programs in participatory decision-making, strategic planning, and leadership development. Bill’s programming at the Center focuses on helping local officials develop their knowledge and skills for building and sustaining effective local governance environments, through the use of civil dialogue and public deliberation approaches and strategies. Many Town Officials were introduced to Bill during the 2013 Town Officials Workshops, where he led a session on “Civility in Public Discourse.” He will be speaking at the League of Wisconsin Municipalities’ Annual Conference in October. Welcome, Bill!

Current Issues Affecting Local Officials Returns as a Webinar

An email last year asked why one Current Issues WisLine program could not be delivered like the webinars from AARP. This year they will be. This popular WisLine telephone seminar series will now be delivered to your home or office computer. If you prefer, you can still use your phone. Webinars were pioneered last year for the “Developing the Annual Budget,” which you can now view at the Local Government Center Website at no charge. Here is the lineup WisLine Webinars, and all broadcast from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM:

  • Legislative Update – October 15
  • Traditional and Innovative Road Funding November 19
  • Civility and Civil Dialogue in Local Government December 17
